Shame on us

If that's how we're going to be then shame on us.

During the Winnipeg Jets' open practice at the MTS Centre this Sunday, a small group of Idle No More protesters entered and began to protest. They had signs, which were confiscated, probably due to the arena rules, and drums. As they drummed, at least one fan gave them the finger (there were children present, on both sides), while the majority eventually chanted "Go Jets Go" to drown them out. I wouldn't be shocked if they received other rude treatment.

Real people living in deplorable, hopeless conditions is more important than your little hockey game. Was it kinda intrusive? Did it take your attention away from the free practice just a little bit? I know: it's kind of a bummer. Then again you probably didn't grow up in crippling poverty, so really it's not that bad, know what I mean?

These people deserve our respect and support for advocating on behalf of the suffering. Whatever you think the solution is, we can all agree that there is a problem. So let's start talking about it.

That's really all the protesters are asking for, for us to turn off the TV for one minute so we can deal with what matters first.

***UPDATE***

Here is a video clip of the incident:

    1. Very well articulated point. I'm sure Mike appreciates the constructive criticism. Now you can go to bed knowing that you made the world a brighter place today.
